Integrated Regional Water Management Planning

Roundtable of Regions Conference Call Group and Summits

The Roundtable of Regions is an ad hoc group of representatives from Integrated Regional Water Management (IRWM) regions around the State.  Each IRWM region is unique, but we have many common interests.  The Roundtable provides a forum for people working on IRWM to discuss those interests and to share their successes and challenges.  It also provides a forum for collaborating on providing input to the State as this new water management approach evolves.  The Roundtable welcomes all groups who are actively working on IRWM Plans.

The Roundtable of Regions began in 2006 with the regions that were called back for the first round of IRWM implementation grants as a way of sharing information and trouble-shooting through the process.  Since then, the Roundtable has grown to include representatives from more than 30 regions in all funding areas of the State.  The group typically meets every 4 to 6 weeks by conference call.  In late 2007, the Roundtable held its first face-to-face meeting, or Summit, and plans to have 3 to 4 Summits per year.

The Roundtable of Regions is open to representatives of all IRWM regions, regardless of where they are in the IRWM process.  There is no formal MOU for the group, nor is there a formal “head” of the group.  Our purpose is to help each other in this new, dynamic program by sharing experiences on what is working and what is not working and working to develop standards and best practices for IRWM.  We also work to develop consensus responses to  State agency information needs  Regional representatives can contact Tracy Hemmeter, Santa Clara Valley Water District, or more information or to be added to the Roundtable of Regions roster.
